Application Note
Highest Readouts and Number of Decimals
There is a maximum distance which the PlanWheel can display. This varies depending on the units of readout chosen. Also depending on the units of readout, a different number of digits will be displayed following the decimal. The following chart shows the maximum reading and number of digits for each unit of readout possible on the PlanWheel:

If you roll past the maximum reading, the display will show all dashes (——-). However the Plan Wheel continues to accumulate distance internally. The measurement can be recovered by switching to larger units; for example, from feet to yards.
The number of digits after the decimal does not necessarily reflect the resolution of the readout. Resolution of readout = 1.0 mm (0.04″) wheel resolution times the scale factor.
Examples: For a scale of 1:100 and reading out in meters, the resolution is 1.0 mm times 100 = 0.1 meter. For a scale of ¼” = 1′ (1:48) and reading out in feet, the resolution is 0.04″ times 48 = 1.92 inches or 0.16 feet.
This chart applies to the Plan Wheel PC as well as the PlanWheel.
